Terre Vandale // Dance Liaison

Terre is honored to be a part of the stellar FNO team and to be part of a community arts event which highlights all of the creativity in Florence. Her role is to reach out to choreographers, dance groups, and dance schools, who are either based in Florence or offering classes here, to invite them to participate in FNO. As the liaison between the dance artists and the FNO organizing team, she also helps think through dancers’ specific needs to ensure the event will be a positive one for everyone involved! Terre says “We are so lucky to have such an extensive dance community here in Florence that it would take several days of events to showcase them all. This year’s line-up represents a diversity of ages and genres — some performances and some free classes for the community. It is going to be an exciting evening of dance!”

Outside of FNO, Terre Vandale is a dance artist and educator whose choreographic and teaching practice expands assumptions about what dance is, who can dance, and where dance happens. Terre has performed and presented choreographic and video works nationally and internationally, and as a member of Anna Halprin’s Dance Company. Terre directs Mae (Movement Arts Ensemble) – an intergenerational, place-based dance company here in the Pioneer Valley. She teaches dance, theater, and arts integrated curriculum in school, community, and university settings. She is a certified teacher of Halprin’s somatic approach and Program Coordinator for the Arts Extension Service at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she teaches Arts Programming and Community Engagement for Artists.
